The Name

The Legend of Istrian Winds

For centuries the winds — in Latin, Ventis — have carried secrets between Istria's stone villages. They speak of a still centre, a stone's throw from everywhere, where all the currents converge. That point is Baderna: the heart of stone, and the home of Villa Ventis.

Here the winds are not obstacles but guides. A soft Maestral lifts you west to the Venetian towers of Poreč. A brisk Bura carries you east across the hills to the truffle towns of Motovun and Grožnjan and their terraced vineyards. A warm southerly leads you down to the ancient stones of Pula's amphitheatre. And in the cool of the evening, the wind always brings you home.
